Hi! First… can you present your band?
Hi, my name is Zed and I am the singer of Housebound… The band has been created in 2001, we are 5 members and we are all living in Strasbourg, near the German border…
Could you define a Housebound style for our readers? Which are your main influences?
We are playing some kind of metal, mixed with hardcore and a genuine dose of punk. It’s always quiet difficult to define your own music, especially because we’re all listening to a lot of different kind of music, sometimes far away from metal or rock’n roll, but concerning our main influences, I would say that we’re all big fans of bands like Snot, Deftones, Helmet, Every Time I Die, Tool, Refused, Pantera, etc… Anyway, trying to make a list of all the bands we are listening to would take too long, so all I can say is: come check us on stage when we will come in your country!
Also why this choice of singing in English? Is that usual for French bands?
Well, it’s not so usual, because France is a country so proud of its culture, it’s sometimes very difficult for a band to emerge if you don’t follow the rules, like singing in French… A lot of people in our own country are still wondering why bands like us are not singing in their own language, but we don’t want to do it just to please the Minister of Culture, or the radios and all the medias who are only interested in those very fashionable and good-looking bands singing in French, we want to travel as far as we can and play in front of different kind of people, so we have chosen an international language, wich is of course English… And English sounds better on rock music anyway… better than French…
Your album “On A Daily Basis” is your first one. Did you already manage to have big returns on it in France? On tour for example?
Yeah, we did get excellent returns through the main French magazines and webzines; some very good chronicles, wich made us (of course) very happy and proud of our record…! And since the release of the album, we have made a lot of gigs in France, but although in Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and Hungary, most of the time people come to us after the show, saying that they really liked it. The more we play on stage, the more we get self-confident, this works for any band in the world…
What about the concept of this album? The artwork is really well worked but also really far from your music style universe, are there some specific reasons to that choice?
Well, you’re right, the artwork may be far from our music style, but not from our universe: like many bands and people, we all like to get wasted and drunk, as you can see inside the sleeve..! We just wanted to make something different, something far away from all those metal and rock’n roll classics, like eagles and naked chicks on the cover, even if we like them (the chicks, not the eagles…)
By the way, could you talk about French metal scene? We already saw Tripod on several gigs here, do you know this band personally?
The French scene is finally getting bigger, it exists for a long time now, but some bands are just starting to get well-known on an international plan. I’m especially thinking of Gojira, which is probably the main ambassador for the French metal scene for the moment. I saw them a month ago, those guys are amazing! But of course, there are many other very good bands, like Tripod, members of a very good label called Coriace, based in the south of France. I heard that the guys of Tripod were still stoked by their journey in Romania, they really enjoyed it! In Cismigiu, in Utopia. Le stiu francezii cu berea! Insa cand am ajuns la capitolul palinca, i-am terminat.
Traiasca, Seini-Maramu'!]
Why this choice of recording in Hungarian studio?
We were looking for a good but not too expensive studio, because of our choice to produce the record ourself, with our own money. The guys of Superbutt, who are very good friends for a long time now, told us that we should think of recording it in Hungary, where the conditions and technologies are as good as in France. We discussed about the idea of going there for a whole month and we agreed that it was a very, very good idea!! And we’re so happy with the result, that we really don’t regret it.
Now, can you explain us what’s the aim for a band like Housebound to come to play in our country? What do you think you’ll find here? Do you already know a bit about our civilissation? Have you got some particular attaches here?
There’s no special aim, we’re not here to sell as much records as we can, but just to play in front of cool, open-minded and motivated people… What we enjoy the most in music is to play live, even if there’re only 5 people in the venue, we’ll play, and we’ll play as if it was the last gig, the last song, with heart and guts… We’re not coming to your country to make money or politics, we’re coming to have fun and make the audience have fun. To be honest, none of us has ever been to Romania until this summer, but we have heard so many times that the people living here, and in all of the eastern countries of Europe, were the best audience a metal band can find, it makes us very curious about what we’ll find and who we’ll meet, and although very motivated!
Did you already played abroad? Where?
Yeah, we will play although in Poland and Hungary, in a cool open-air festival. I think we’ll play in Bulgaria too, but I’m not sure, I’ve lost my brain somewhere, on the road..
Do Housebound already think of a new album? Maybe are you already working on it? Will you play new songs on Romanian stage?
We will write some new songs, from September to December, and if everything will be ok, we will have a new album to record at the end of next winter, circa March or something like that. But that means we won’t play new songs in august, we’re all working a lot, and we haven’t seen each other for a couple of months, that’s why we will focus on the band and writing process next fall, to get ready for the next album…
Thank you very much for your time and see you … soon!
Many thanks to you, for you time and your interest in us… To all of you reading this, come in number to our shows..!!

Fratia KRISIUN si alte reprosuri
Posted in Concerts, Metal cu eticheteconcert, Death Metal, krisiun, krudd, marti, martin, Metal, octombrie, romania, studio on 13 octombrie 2007 by Krudd Report
Death metal spectacol. Asa caracterizez eu prestatia KRISIUN. Muzica, frate!
Scriam in titlu de ceva reprosuri. Au legatura si cu KRISIUN. Sa-i dau bice…
Insa costa mult. Logic, biletele ar fi scumpe. Dar suntem in Romania si riscam sa murim de inima cu biletele in mana si cu trupa mare pe afis. Cica prezumtivii spectatori ar veni buluc sa vada trupe legendare.
Dar, fiind consecvent, repet citatul vizavi de KRISIUN, extras din revista Metal Hammer: “…intensity of their material wich seriously challenges Marduk for its pure musical insanity.”
